Cormorant

Acrylic, graphite and ink on cradled board. 84 x 59.5 cm (33 x 23 in).

A formidably efficient diver and fisher, the cormorant surprisingly, does not have waterproofed feathers. This piece is inspired both by the glossy iridescent appearance of the feathers and the shapes the bird makes when spreading its wings to dry.
